About
Makeup Dept. Head and Designer, Kerry Herta, an 8-time consecutive Guild Award winner and an Emmy nominee, is the creative force behind some of the industry’s most memorable faces. For over 20 years, she’s perfected her award-winning makeup techniques and adapted it to the most current styles and production technology.
In 2010, Kerry took a break from her mix of film, television, and editorial work to oversee All My Children’s transition to the HD format. With her signature techniques, she revamped the legendary looks of a well-known cast that included Susan Lucci and, in the process, set a new standard for makeup on daytime television. Her work earned her a 2011 Daytime Emmy nomination.
After 100 episodes in HD, Kerry returned to the mix of film, television, beauty and editorial work that’s made her one of the industry’s most versatile artists.
Her makeup designs made the promotional campaigns for FX’s American Horror Story, American Horror Stories, Pose, and Nip/Tuck some of the most talked-about campaigns to date. She has also worked on feature films such as, D.C. Comics Black Adam, Marvel’s Eternals, and Disney’s 2023 Haunted Mansion.
Kerry pulls from her background in Film, Television, and Editorial to make her specialty of character designs, both fresh and unique to any genre.
She also has a passion for educating and creating a community of talented artists who are committed to teamwork and collaboration. She founded Colour Box Makeup Studios in 2009 and has since trained and mentored hundreds of makeup artists working on major productions around the country. Many of them have even worked and continue to work on her team.
Kerry prides herself in being an artist, a leader, and a mentor.
